This high-performance reel utilizes special screw ports around side plate screws to reduce water/corrosion buildup. The Makaira Special Edition Reel has an open top frame design and open spool bearings with TSI-301 oil, increasing freespool by 2.5 times. All non-spool bearings have a full grease pack for maximum longevity. Other features: distinctive anodizing, with a yellowfin tuna is etched into the side plate. A machined-out frame increases clearance between the spool and cross bars. A ratcheting drag lever and drag cam allow precise drag settings. Heavy-duty, 17-4 grade stainless steel drive and spool shafts assure smooth reliability, and a forged aluminum reel foot and clamp sport a Type III anodized finish.
